Just Like You Films

Jen Greenstreet is the CEO and Founder of Just Like You Films, the 2019 Oscar qualified and Mid-American Emmy award-winning nonprofit production company.  Jen has served as CEO of Just Like You Films for 11 years.  She is also the founder and CEO of a for profit film production company, Waking Up Films.  She has produced, written and/or directed 22 short films and 4 feature length films.  

 

Jen served as a Prosecuting Attorney in Jackson County Missouri for 8 years, litigating 520 felony cases and representing the state in 46 jury trials. She also taught criminal law at William Jewell College.  Jen also practiced civil trial law after her time in the Prosecutor’s Office.  

 

After her legal career, Jen took her passion for advocating and storytelling from the courtroom to the big screen.  In creating Just Like You Films she sought to create a kinder more empathetic world through the power of film.  She writes, directs, edits and produces the documentary Just Like You Film series including Just Like You - Facial Anomalies, which received theatrical distribution through AMC Theatres in over 200 theaters nationwide in a bundle with the feature film, Wonder qualifying it for an Oscar.  She recently completed production on her first feature documentary film, Just Like You - Anxiety and Depression. 

 

She is an 11 time Mid-American Emmy nominee and 2 time Mid-American Emmy award recipient.  She has written 3 feature length screenplays and a novel.  Just Like You films have been viewed over 1.2 million times in 300 different countries and have reached 8 million kids in 25,000 schools in the United States and Canada. Her films have received many awards and recognition, including the two Mid-America Emmy Awards, the Tash Positive Images in Media Award, the National Down Syndrome Congress’ Education Award, The KC Jewish Film Festival’s Trailblazer Award, the AMC Theatres Cares Award, The Autism Society of the Heartland’s Making A Difference Award and The Golden Door International Film Festival’s Raising Awareness Award.  Jen recently was honored with the 2018 Kindest Kansas Citian Award and 2019 City Year Kansas City Idealist of Year Award.
