Hasna Sal
Glass Artist

Hasna Sal, International artist and published poet, is an architect by training. A US citizen, Hasna relocated to Kansas in 2002 where she worked as an architect and taught design studio at the University of Kansas. With four years of fine art from England and Wales and her five-year NAAB-accredited professional degree in architecture from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston MA, Hasna credits her post-graduate work in landscape architecture from Harvard University with the foundation of her architectural glass installations. Hasna’s glasswork encompasses casting, kiln-formed glass, fritography, stained glass, etching, silk screening, glass blowing and torchworking.

Hasna created the first exterior memorial in the United States for victims of human trafficking. She identifies herself as a raconteur–bringing to light overlooked stories. She synthesizes personal narratives of communities through creative placemaking and social reform. She believes art must step beyond the liminalities of aesthetics and transcend into the realm of social activism:

Hasna was selected by the International Biennale foundation in 2021 for Larnaca Biennale in Cyprus and Chianciano Biennale in Italy in 2022. She was one of 28 artists selected from an application pool of 1900 submissions to install work in the concourse of the Kansas City International airport. Her most recent project is a  grant from North-East Kansas City chamber of commerce for an exterior installation in Independence Plaza park, Kansas City, MO. Find out more at glassconcepts360.com
